TINY MIKE
Miniature Shotgun On-Camera Microphone
Ambient's small, high-quality shotgun microphone is designed to be used on-camera with "DV" cameras for documentary and broadcast work. and since most on camera microphones have a poor directional characteristic and that most professional shotgun mikes are much too big for the cameras, Ambient decided to make a small high quality shotgun mike which works on the almost ubiquitous power available at the mike input socket. This is not Phantom 48 Volts but about 3 Volts. The result is the Tinymike which although an electret has a wide frequency range, good directionality and sounds excellent for its size. Using a phantom power adapter (Eumel) the mike can be fitted to a Phantom power source as well, making it a suitable accessory for the PD150 camera. The Tinymike is now in use in many documentaries and broadcast applications. Some people use it on the boom! It can be mounted on a separate post with camera shoe or be fitted onto Tinymix to give an integrated solution.

TINY MIX
Two-Channel Audio Mixer
 |
The Tinymix was constructed to make use of the 2 channel capabilty of most consumer digital video cameras. It is a passive mixer which feeds through the mike powering from the camera. Through selecting different pins on the input socket a line level, dynamic mike or electret mike can be connected. Both channels can be individually faded and there is a rolloff filter for each input. An integrated fixing post for the Tinymike soft suspension up front and an accessory shoe at the top completes the unit. The Tinymix is electrically isolated from the camera housing elimninating earth loops.
Tiny mix together with the Tinymike provides the smallest and lightest mix and mike combination on the market, fitting unobtrusively on even the smallest handheld digital camera. |
EMESSER
Figure-of-Eight Microphone
 |
The Emesser is the first very small high quality electret figure of eight microphone. Due to its small size it is ideally suited to convert a standard microphone to an M/S pair allowing continued use of the windshields and microphone mounts used for the “parent” microphone. The Emesser contains electronics so that it can be connected directly to 48v Phantom or to an electret voltage (consumer video) and comes with a complete loom, mounting clip and foam windshield. It can and be clipped onto and plugged into any mono microphone converting it into an M/S pair. The output is a 5 pin XLR in the standard balanced stereo configuration. |
